Questions

What does Sprig help with?

Sprig helps parents of young children with speech, language or motor concerns find early intervention, school services and private speech and occupational therapists, and understand what insurance covers.

How much does Sprig cost parents?

Nothing. Sprig is free for parents. Therapists can list a basic profile for free, and featured practices pay $49 to $149 per month for priority placement and profile extras.

What are signs of speech delay?

Little babbling or few gestures by around the first birthday, no single words or short phrases by the age most children use them, speech that family members find very hard to understand, and losing words. If you notice any of these, talk to your pediatrician. Read speech delay signs by age for what to do next.

Is early intervention free?

Evaluations are free under early intervention programs; service costs vary by state.

Is speech therapy covered by insurance?

It depends on your plan and your child's needs. Ask your insurer, or your state Medicaid office if your child has Medicaid, what is covered and whether you need a referral.

Does my child need speech or occupational therapy?

It depends on the concern. Speech therapy works on understanding and using language, speech clarity and social communication. Occupational therapy works on fine motor skills, self-care, sensory processing and daily routines. An evaluation decides, and some children need both. Read speech therapy vs occupational therapy for signs of each.

Does teletherapy work for toddlers?

Often, with a parent involved. Ask the therapist how they run sessions.
